Health Education
Our health education is informed by community perspectives and reflect
the most accurate health information from trusted health authorities.
Our materials are:

Rigorously Translated
Our translations go above and beyond industry standard to include proofreading and an additional level of review by a member of the community to ensure the translation is not only accurate, but culturally appropriate.

Culturally Validated
In addition to checking translations, our community reviewers look at stock photography, design elements, explanatory visuals and other aspects of our work to ensure cultural relevance.

Fully Customizable
We want anyone to be able to customize our materials, even if they don’t have design software or a communications department. We created drag-and-drop templates in Google Slides and Canva that are easy to use.

Completely Free
Our materials are completely free to use and distribute without attribution. You can even remove our logo if you want, or customize it with your own photos. No signup required.

Hepatitis B
MHI created health education materials that promote adult-dose hepatitis B vaccines among newcomers in the U.S. After careful research that included a literature review, a review of existing campaigns, and hepatitis B prevalence data, we convened a cohort of community leaders to help us make the final decisions. The result is a suite of materials that prioritizes Sub-Saharan African communities while supporting Asian immigrant communities with additional translation offerings.
Afghan Health Education
The health education materials created for our Afghan Health Promotion portfolio included print, digital, audio/video, and messaging campaigns to meet community needs. Each collection of materials incorporated the context of Afghans’ displacement, Afghan cultural references and traditions, and cultural validation by Afghan community members. This portfolio used a culturally validated brand design specifically for Afghan clients as well as photos of Afghan families.

COVID-19
We created four COVID-19 campaigns that addressed contact tracing and vaccine promotion for refugee and immigrant communities in the U.S. in 40+ languages. An evaluation found that the campaigns were particularly effective in the hands of trusted messengers; the materials reduced the work of translation, guided conversations in an evidence-based way that avoided personal opinions, and aided organizations in providing access to health information that promoted informed decision-making and health-seeking behavior.

Refugee Health Education
The United Nations worked with MHI to create a suite of materials that would prepare refugees for their health screenings before they traveled to the U.S. The materials covered several topics, including tuberculosis, pregnancy, parasitic infections, and more. In addition to traditional print and audio/visual materials, MHI worked with the UN to develop content for a mobile app they developed for refugees to track their appointments and other important information.
